Your Work Could Be On The Front Cover!

Create A Masterpiece!

Submission Form Closed - Thank You for Participating
Contest ends on Friday, July 19th, 2019 at 11:59PM AKST.

We Are Seeking Out...

Original artwork depicting the mascots of KPAC for the event’s program, which contains the map, schedules, and general convention information. The program is handed out to every attendee at the convention! The artwork may also be used for other promotional items such as appearing on signs, the KPAC website, and other items as needed.

Every submission must contain both KPAC mascots, the forest guardian Kumako and her bear cub companion Beau. The mascots can be dressed and posed in any way the artist wishes to portray them, as long as they are not dressed or posed as any copyright characters or compositions. The following depictions are not permitted in the submissions: drugs or illegal substances, pornography/hentai, violence, profanities, or any other inappropriate situations, language, or scenes. A submission may be deemed inappropriate by the KPAC Art Contest Judging Panel and disqualified from the contest.

We encourage every artist submitting to the contest to check out the About The Convention page of the KPAC website to learn more about our mascots. This may prove to be useful for artists to come up with their piece for the contest as they’ll get to know our mascots a bit better by learning about their history and personalities.

Rules for Submissions

Whether you are a beginner or an artist by trade, we call out to local Alaskan artists to submit their creative works for our Program for KPAC’s upcoming show! Of course, artists outside of Alaska are welcome to submit as well. Submissions must be done by individual artists only.

Artists are welcome to submit more than one entry into the contest.

Please review all of the submission rules prior to creating and submitting your artwork for the contest. Submissions that do not follow the rules for submission will not be considered in the final judging for the winning piece.

  1. All entries must be at least 300dpi in CMYK resolution in order for the best quality of print. Low resolution copies will not be accepted.
  2. All entries must be in JPEG format. Entries in any other file type will not be accepted.
  3. The Program Cover dimensions are 4.25” by 5.5”. All entries must be submitted in 8.5” by 11” in order to be formatted for the Program Cover properly.
  4. Entries should be explicitly artwork only. Please do not include the KPAC logo or any other typography elements in your submission, as this will be added later by KPAC staff. Please also refrain from adding any artist signatures or watermarks to the piece, as the winning submission will have proper artist credit added to the Program Cover later on by KPAC staff.
  5. Entries can be either traditional or digital. Traditional pieces must be scanned in order to enter them in the submission form.
  6. All entries must be submitted through the submission entry form. Click the link above to be directed to the submission form. Entries submitted any other way will not be accepted.
  7. Follow the format below when naming your file before submitting it in the submissions form: FirstName_LastName_01. For multiple pieces, continue to number them: FirstName_LastName_02, FirstName_LastName_03. Artists will need to use the submission form for each piece they submit, i.e. if an artist is submitting 3 pieces, they will need to enter 3 separate times in the submission form. Remember, all files should be submitted in JPEG format.
  8. All entries must be submitted by 11:59PM AKST on Friday, July 19th, 2019. Submissions entered after this time will not be accepted. Winners will be announced within the following week of the end of submissions time.  By entering the contest, artists are granting permission to the Kenai Peninsula Anime Convention (KPAC) team the right to reproduce their art for promotional use without any further compensation. This includes cropping, removing background elements or other minor alterations. This includes all submissions to the contest and is not exclusive to the winning design.
  9. The contest entries will be judged by a panel of members from the KPAC Team, Taikai Corporation, and individuals from the Artist Alley community in Alaska. Pieces will be reviewed for their originality, composition, and representation of the KPAC mascots.
  10. Contest art entries must be kept confidential until the winner is announced publicly on all official KPAC and Taikai Corporation channels (social media & website.) Public disclosure of any submitted artwork before the permitted time will be grounds for disqualification and forfeiture of prizes.
  11. The KPAC Team reserves the right to choose another piece of artwork for our 2019 promotional materials if all the entries are unsuitable for publication.

If you have any questions in regards to this rule, please contact KPAC staff for more information.
